God has thoughts of peace, hope and a future for you. Jeremiah 29:11-14 ; 31:31-34

Israel and Judah because they had forsaken Gods Covenant and worshipped other gods suffered famine, the sword and pestilence. They went into captivity for 70 years under the Babylonians. However as a loving Father disciplines and corrects His children the purpose is to bring about peace and safety, that they may learn and ultimately benefit from doing right so God loved Israel and Judah. He did not put them out of His mind and forget about them.He didn`t say `I`m finished with them` and put Himself out of their reach.Instead He had plans to give them hope and a future.God would listen and answer when they called on Him. But the Lord is with me. Jeremiah 20:11

Have you ever felt like giving up? No longer use the gift, fulfil the ministry or speak the Word God has given you? No one listens, tongues wag, others mock and some even looking rid of you. When Jeremiah the prophet delivered Gods word to Israel and Judah calling them to repent and warning of coming judgement they refused to listen ; devised plans against him ; attacked him with the tongue JER18:18 ; they mocked him ; tried to get him to change his message JER.20:7 ; tried to kill him JER.26:8 ; burnt his scroll JER.36:23 ; and put him in prison JER.38:6. Who do you trust when facing trials, trouble or lack? Jeremiah 17:9,10

Israel and Judah when facing famine and an invading army turned from trusting God to relying on the help of Egypt and the Assyrians. They turned from the fountain of life to the rivers of Egypt and Assyria.Jer.2.When we face trials, trouble or lack do we depend on God or rely on man? In a spiritual wilderness do we seek out a prophet,a great teacher or our pastor before we seek God the Fountain of life?In a financial famine do we put our hope in a good employer or generous bank? What about God as our Provider and the wisdom of His Word in handling our money? When you trust God you will not fear when the heat comes on nor be anxious in the year of drought. Do not trust your place of worship! Jeremiah 7.

Do you believe everything is all right as long as you have got your place of worship and attend it regularly? Gods people in Jeremiahs day believed that because they had the Temple of God and brought their offerings of worship the invading Babylonians would not destroy them nor God punish them. However Jeremiah warned them that as in the past (Shiloh 1SAM.4:10,11) because of their wickedness God would remove the place of worship and His presence. They could not trust in the Temple and bring their offerings yet at the same time steal, murder, commit adultery and worship other gods. The heart of the matter is the heart. Jer.4:3,4

Have you ever asked someone to do something and they say`No`?You ask again. They reply`No`.Again you ask. They refuse. You put it to them again. They don`t even listen. They harden their hearts.
Gods people exchanged God for other gods and idols. They committed adultery and went after other lovers.God called them back to Himself however they continually refused.God called on His people to take away `foreskins of their hearts` and cut off from other gods.`Circumcise yourselves to the Lord`Jeremiah4:3,4.Circumcision the cutting off the foreskin was a sign of Gods covenant with Abrahams descendants.Physical circumcision marked them as belonging to God-His people.Jeremiah prophecied that God would punish all the circumcision (Israel/Judah) with all the uncircumcision (Gentiles/pagans) because Israels HEARTS were uncircumcised. Jer.9:26.In the past Moses told Israel to `circumcise the foreskin of your heart and be stiff-necked nolonger`What does the Lord require of His people? To fear Him,to walk in all His ways,to love and serve Him with all their hearts keeping His commands.Deut.10:12-16.The Greatest Commandment is `to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.`God is looking for people with a tender heart of love towards Him. Two Evils. Jeremiah 3:1-13

God told His people they had committed two evils.

1.They forsook Him the Fountain of Life.Like a lover leaving their partner,a wife leaving her husband or a husband leaving his wife, Gods people left Him for other gods/idols.They left the Glory-the Awesome One True and Living God full of goodness and kindness for gods that could neither hear nor speak. No comparsion.God regards it as a great evil when we loose our first love for Him,nolonger seeking Him , talking to Him nor worshipping Him but instead loving someone else, hobby, career, house, possession or sport. Remember God is the Fountain or Spring of Life who refreshes, quenches and satisfies.Gives life to the full. Continue reading Two Evils. Jeremiah 3:1-13
